Notice how you didn't cite any credible sources for your claims? This is why people dont believe you. You cited sources for the pictures you used in the video, but not for any of the claims you made. Also, its not like we're renaming locs or wearing blackface. Most Africans who are fom africa dont mind and might even encourage people of other races and ethnicities to take part in thier cultural practices. The only people who care about cultural appropriation are white people who want to, whether they realize it or not, separate themselves from non-white people

Hi, In hope that this reaches you. I've found wool embroidery thread that looks thin enough to sew garments with. I can't find one for machine sewing, I'm afraid, but to me it sounds like you could get away with using cotton or silk there. Unless there are other "rules" against that. I'm not of Jewish descent, just a curious Scandinavian. Yours, Ann

I would like to add a Scandinavian artist from this approximate era of the British Pre-Raphaelites. His name is John Bauer and his paintings invoke, I would argue, an even more of a fantasy vibe in his paintings. I find still find them hauntingly beautiful around 50 years after I first discovered him as a child in the north of Scandinavia. I've done so since I first came in contact with the pictures when I was a young child in the 1970's and very much into learning our our cultural "folk-sagor" (plural), (en folk-saga, is the singular form, and they are not at all the same, or even like, the Viking Sagas). Closest in translation would be fairytales, but ours are built on old folk beliefs, and stories from the dawn of adults needing the children to stay indoors and not get lost in the woods, or more like deep forests, really. Those are still vast today, centuries after the stories came to life. People also needing something to do to keep themselves entertained when the part of the forest they lived in, was completely insulated from all other parts, due to the winter snow. It would be was being both cold, and the snow deep, and very, very easy to die in, during the 8 month of winters. We don't really have those any more, due to climate change, but we still had long and cold enough winters when I was young, to understand the importance of respecting the winters, even if I grew up in a town. It takes manny stories to live through 8 months of that, and we are richly compensated with tales that gave us the all those trolls, and wild spirits of ours. Creatures just like the giant trolls of Grieg's "In The Hall of the Mountain King". My inner pictures of that music are resting on John Bauer's paintings, as does music by Sibelius, and poems by Runeberg. Those were some of the people that worked on our national folk beliefs and tales, during the time when the Brits were having esthetics movements and Victorian times. We just don't have a fancy name for them. I've started being interested in the old "folk sagor" from around 10 years old and I'm still in love with them. Stories like King Hat Under The Mountain, which is one of my favorites to this day, another is Tripp, Trapp Trull and Dumb-dumb the Troll. I'm taking some liberties in the translation, but I really don't think they have English names. They were basically dead and called trad. when I actively looked for them back then. This turned out to be a very long comment just to bring forth the painter John Bauer. My apologies. I have this bad habit that I can't seem to shake. I usually promise not to write too many comments, so not to deplete my allotted words in one go. I'll try to keep the numbers light. I'm now going to see if I can find your making the bleo. Yours, Ann

I (for context, a goy with a half-Jewish grandmother) work at several Scottish Highland Games in the northeast USA as a living history interpreter; we actually just had an event yesterday. We’re a timeline group that covers a span of over four centuries, and I often cover the medieval half of our era, routinely talking about women’s rights (and often their lack thereof) and roles in society. Unsurprisingly, that does lead to me talking about female business owners at this time and how they had to work within an even more misogynistic and hostile system than today. I actually mentioned Licoricia to someone at the event yesterday and told them a little of her history as both an outsider and an extremely notable woman who ran a business. The guests were quite impressed that not only did she make it into the historical record, but she also got a statue! Needless to say, I recommended your video 😁

The earliest known possible depictions of dreadlocks date back as far as 1600-1500 BCE in the Minoan Civilization, centered in Crete (now part of Greece). Frescoes discovered on the Aegean island of Thera (modern Santorini, Greece) portray individuals with long braided hair or long dreadlocks. Egypt, India and Greece. Greece, officially the Hellenic Republic, is a country in Southeast Europe. Located on the southern tip of the Balkan peninsula, Greece shares land borders with Albania to the northwest, North Macedonia and Bulgaria to the north, and Turkey to the east. History tells us that humans with lighter colored skin come from Europe. And all humans were the same in the beginning, but when humans migrated across the planet earth, we took on colors and shapes adapted from the environment. We are all children of this one planet. We all deserve peace. Chill out.

Thank you for addressing the fact that victorian women with very long hair were being photographed because they were exceptional. There is a woman on youtube who swears by victorian tips and tricks to get long hair, with the premise that "people in the past" (good old days fallacy) were almost built different or had such better knowledge of their bodies, which isnt true. Personally my hair grows insanely fast when i do the opposite of what i keep reading and watching : i blow dry my hair after every shampoo (that makes my hair free of knots and so good looking that i dont hide it under a bun and hence damage it), i shampoo often, i brush ny hair several times a day, etc. In the last 2 months my hair has grown by easily 5cm. When i was not doing either of that, i could never grow my hair beyond my shoulders. Now i am off to watch your promising video :)

!!! 8:49 This is why I wash my hair so much! My allergies are way worse if I don’t wash it at least every other day. Pollen, pet dander, dust around the house… all that stuff gets in my hair and makes me sneeze my brains out, I am on my last two brain cells, all the other ones are stuck inside tissues in a landfill somewhere. This is why CGM and low frequency hair washing routines confuse me lol.

A wonderful example of the poorly educated or failing to research a subject properly and misguided by an emotion . The earliest example of hair braiding is a figurine found in Austria ( not in Africa) the " Venus of Wilĺendorf " which is around 30 000 years old , another found in FRANCE (also not Africa) that is 25 000 years old . No such examples have been found anywhere in the continent of Africa .

I have been to many many many weddings in the UK, and seen many different patterned white dresses, and no one batted an eye. White base + black or colour is not the same as wearing a white dress 😂 I have also seen people wear just white, and it's been fine because it's very clearly not a wedding dress. I do think people here don't really care as much about things like that. They might care more honestly if you turned up in a ball gown, rather than in white

Though i don't know that much about male kimono, they are pretty much the same as fem kimono, only the sleeves are sewn entirely to the body whereas a fem kimono only has part of the sleeve sewn to the body with the back of the sleeves being open and slits down the sides of the kimono. This is due to fem kimono being worn with the obi on the waist and these side slits make it so much easier to put them on, where as masc kimono is worn closer to the hips and their obi is usually much thinner there is no need for the openings. Though both men and women can wear hakama, which are effectively pants. These are worn over the kimono and are worn for a verity of reasons, including for when the kimono is just not practical for the planned activity. So yeah in Japan it was more about your sleeves, how you wore your obi, and the colors/motifs of your kimono that communcated gender & status

I want to wear my kilt more often, don’t always get the chance because I work with kids and don’t want it ruined. But I’ve also been thinking about how there’s not a proper skirt option for men’s lounge suits that compliment the lines properly. Sure, there’s 1800/1900s skirt suits that women would wear, but those tend to emphasize certain lines that wouldn’t work as harmoniously with the longer coat on a men’s skirt. I’ll be sewing it as soon as I get the pleating pattern down.

The main problem I had with the show was everything that was left out and them having to change things. The one thing I really do not like (after I read the books) was in s1 the plot line of Marcus not being able to take a human through the process of becoming a vampire as this is totally ridiculous once you get to s3 and find out he has a whole family in New Orleans. They could have used the time spent on that plot in s1 to include more of stuff from the book.

Because the negative underlyings of cottagecore has been discussed already, I'll name some positives :D - Inspire modern city folks to learn about homecare skills that they might feel unmotivated to learn otherwise (sewing, mending, reducing waste when cooking, growing plants,...) - Slightly normalize longer skirts and dresses (usually they're seen as more formal) - Might inspire people to look into sewing and making their own clothes ('cause beautiful, higher quality cottagecore dresses are expensive af lol). Of course one downside is that some people might turn to fast fashion instead.

Hello, a Marxist here: Why do you think that the biggest problem facing black people is white people's hairstyles? As someone that was a youth worker on the south side of Chicago I can tell you that there's a million bigger issues than this. This is the problem with identity politics, instead of campaigning for real economic emancipation of the black working class (and the working class more generally) you care about pathetic cultural issues like hairstyles and gender presentation. Meanwhile the ruling class laughs all the way to the bank and the poor stay poor. I accuse you here and now of the following: self-righteous egotistical virtue signalling whilst maintaining the violent and exploitative power of the ruling class. How do you respond? Awkward silence...

Dreadlocks wasn't worn by the black community as a whole until after the 1950s when members of the Rastafari religion started wearing and there are only 1 million Rastafari worldwide. But apparently, according to the "expert" who posted this garbage video on RUclips, the entire black race has exclusive right to dreadlocks even though most black people who wear them aren't members of the Rastafari faith. And even though Rastafarians wore this hairstyle for less than a century, they have a greater claim to it than Scandinavians and Celts who wore this style of hair for centuries because you see they tucked the hair differently and parted it on wrong side and these nitpicks on how the hair was braided means they're totally different and white people banned from wearing dreadlocks 🙄 The worst part is these group of people calling white people out for cultural appropriation would scream "racist" if a white person accuses a black person of culturally appropriating some aspect of white culture like a black person listening to classical music or Celtic folk songs. It's a double standard. None of these things are cultural appropriation . A white person wearing dreads has no more power to deprive a black person of that hairstyle than a black person listening to traditionally white people music deprives white people of that music.
